The Economic Research Section analyzes economic and revenue data; monitors state and local government revenue trends; estimates inflation rates; and evaluates the effect of State policies on revenues and the State's economy, of national policies on the State, and of economic impacts of specific activities.

The Section also administers certain mandated requirements for the South Carolina Budget & Control Board Office of Research and Statistics and provides impact analyses for the Board of Economic Advisors, Department of Commerce, the Department of Education, the Department of Transportation, and the Department of Social Services.

The Section analyzes changes in cost of living and increases in State employee salaries for the Office of Human Resource Management and the SC Retirement Systems. This program improves the efficiency of government by ensuring the stability of adjustments to formulas funding and Education Finance Act, teacher salaries and incentives, and nursing homes.

Program Goals
